You found me as
A mess of sharp corners
And smudged,
Wrinkly fingerprints.

Someone had wadded me up
And shoved me in the corner,
Trying to forget about
Our shared past.

I guess you were curious
Enough to take a second look,
Smoothing out the worst of the
Wrinkles
And speaking soothingly.

You said you could fix it.

And for a while, you did.

I became smoother,
Less wrinkled,
And some of the rips knitted together.
I was still a bit smudged
By my past,
And had some sharp edges.

They made me
meghan.

And I had a crazy personality,
An odd writing style,
And a habit of not looking
People in the
Eyes.

Those made me
Meghan.

But you
Had other plans.

You made me blunt my corners,
Straighten my lines,
And rip clean my ragged edges.

You made me look at you,
And made me bleed down
To the horizontal blue lines
Of my soul.

Red ink washed the lines away
And grew formless in your hands.

I displeased you,
And you crumpled me up,
Still bleeding,
And shoved me in my old,
Dark corner.

Why couldn't you realize
That I am penned in ink?

I guess I need new paper,
I have to start again.
Sometimes people don't know where help ends and hurt begins.

I love this. It's so beautiful. Though, was the first Meghan supposed to be uncapitalized?

It was. I was playing with the idea that while my past experiences do set a definition for me, it's a sort of empty model (just another 'meghan', if you will) while the personality traits that go with it, which the poem also discusses, it what makes me this particular Meghan.

Capitalization, for me, is a huge sign of identity in my writing.

Thank you!

Ink, for me, is about losing a friend, but after the DLD's short summary on it, I realize that different people can view it as being about all sorts of things, such as losing someone you love or a relationship.

Either way, in my mind this is written on an incredibly crumpled piece of paper. Like something you fish out of a wastebasket.

Makes enough sense to me. I thought of finding a friend and then they left once they realized that there was only so much they could do to "fix" you. I've seen that happen before.

And the crumpled paper in the wastebasket makes perfect sense to me.^^ I really like that thought, actually.

Thanks!

Ink, for me, is about losing friendship, but I feel like anyone who has ever lost an important person, be it family members, friends, or even someone they love, can apply themselves to it.

Well, I've lost a friend called James who was like a life teacher for me. He is a 45 years old dude with an amazing military hisotyr to tell, but he got angry with me when another dude called Ricardo appeared and started to say bad things about me to him...
